In 2021<\/strong>, our company joined a humanitarian project in Burundi<\/strong>, providing essential materials for the construction of a new water system at the cloistered convent of Rweza<\/strong>. The project also included building a small aqueduct to deliver clean water<\/strong> to residents in the nearby village<\/strong>: addressing an urgent and fundamental need.<\/p>\n

This initiative reflects our company\u2019s ethical and humanitarian vision<\/strong>: promoting universal access to safe drinking water<\/strong>, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,<\/strong><\/em> especially Goal 6: \u201cClean water and sanitation for all\u201d.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

<\/span>Water in Burundi: Itap\u2019s Support<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The convent\u2019s<\/strong> old water system had deteriorated to the point where it could no longer meet the needs of the nuns or nearby residents. In response, the religious community began raising funds and gathering materials to renovate the system<\/strong> and extend its benefits to local families.<\/p>\n

We responded to their call by donating the components needed for the project<\/strong>, making it possible to launch the work and directly contribute to improving daily life in one of the country\u2019s most vulnerable areas.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Access to water: a global challenge<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Access to safe drinking water remains a critical issue:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • 663 million<\/strong> people lack access to safe water sources;<\/li>\n
  • 40%<\/strong> of the global population suffers from water scarcity;<\/li>\n
  • 1,000<\/strong> children die every day from preventable diseases linked to poor sanitation and contaminated water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The 2030 Agenda\u2019s Global Goals<\/strong> respond to these urgent challenges\u2014especially Goal 6<\/strong>, which aims to ensure by 2030:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Universal access<\/strong> to safe and sustainable water sources;<\/li>\n
    • Adequate sanitation<\/strong> services;<\/li>\n
    • Better management<\/strong> of water resources in homes and agriculture;<\/li>\n
    • Protection<\/strong> of aquatic ecosystems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The Burundi project is a concrete example of responsible cooperation between local organizations and companies<\/strong> committed to making a difference.<\/p>\n

      <\/span>A small aqueduct, a big impact<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      In addition to rebuilding the convent\u2019s water system<\/strong>, the nuns chose to extend the benefit to the wider community by constructing a small external aqueduct<\/strong>. This generous act holds tremendous value in a village where people often walk long distances to reach unsafe water sources.<\/p>\n

      Thanks to our support, the construction began with hope and enthusiasm: an important step toward improving quality of life, ensuring health and dignity, and helping families stay in rural areas with access to essential services.<\/p>\n

      <\/span>A commitment with a long-term vision<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      This project in Burundi<\/strong> reaffirms our company\u2019s dedication to global solidarity initiatives<\/strong>. Water is not just a basic need: it\u2019s essential to health<\/strong>, hygiene<\/strong>, and human<\/strong> dignity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
